welcome, infidel!

After watching a few truly awful "comedies" lately (Anchorman easily being the worst), I was happy to find one that was both occasionally funny and mercifully short. Dodgeball runs exactly an hour and a half (like God meant movies to be) and has a lot of funny lines. And a girl who looks like Jennifer Aniston, but isn't.

There was also a bikini carwash scene. It gets points for that also.

Ben Stiller plays the insane owner of Globo-Gym, which wants to buy this other gym next door to make a parking lot. Ben Stiller's character is the centerpiece of the movie and had an inflatable codpiece (to impress the women, you know) and ridiculous 70s hair.

The overall structure of the movie is a throwback to those 80s movies where the gang of misfits gets together to defeat the evil yuppies. Usually (in the 80s movies) by doing something that involves dancing. But here it was dodgeball.

Ben Stiller has a lot of great one-liners ("nobody makes me bleed my own blood!") and at the end, not only does the guy get the girl, she turns out to be bisexual.

Worth a rental, just keep your expectations reasonable.
